Over the past year or so, I have felt particularly grateful to my lovely friend, Cynthia and her family. They have just heaped blessings on our family. So, I, of course, wanted to say thank you with something crocheted. Now that my first stop for project ideas is my stack of Crochet Today magazines, I promptly turned there.
I found an afghan I liked in the Aug/Sept ’06 issue. It’s called Bed of Roses Blanket.
Not being fond of that shade of yellow, I opted to use two shades of purple instead.
This is a fairly easy pattern, but the second round of edging is an absolute disaster, and I had to completely rewrite that bit. Eventually it was finished:
I wasn’t happy. Sure, it looked fine, but it just wasn’t what I wanted for this particular gift. While waffling over whether or not to start all over, I washed it, hoping to soften the yarn a bit. When I did that some of the stitches came undone. This was fixable, but why spend time repairing a gift I didn’t really want to give in the first place? So, decision made, I went back to my stack to find something truly amazing for my friend.
To be continued…
P.S. If you are a current subscriber, could you please do me a quick favor? I moved my blog to a new location and changed some things around. In the process I lost access to my previous subscriber list. I would like to get you moved over to my new list, but I can’t do it myself. If you could follow these few steps for me that would be great.
