So, my first gift idea was a bust. What should I try next? It really didn’t take me long to find a pattern I absolutely loved in the Sept/Oct ’07 issue of Crochet Today.
They call it the Elegant Filet Afhan and it was exactly what I was after.
I chose Caron Simply Soft in Pagoda:
I adore filet crochet, but had never used it for a yarn project, only thread. It was so much fun to stitch this big filet project in this soft yarn. I really enjoyed this one. I had to learn a new stitch for the border, Reverse Single Crochet, which I found I liked quite a bit, and it made a lovely border.
It didn’t take me long to finish and our friends seemed to like it as much as I did. In my excitement, I forgot to get a picture of it. Thankfully, Cynthia took a couple for me and gave me permission to share.
It almost doesn’t feel like making a thank you gift should be this much fun.
Have you ever made a thank you gift that was so much fun you almost felt you owed them another thank you?
