Today I’m going to share about two of my current, not-even-close-to-done projects.
Several weeks (months? – time seems to fly by lately) ago, my grandmother, with the help of my aunt, sent me a large bag of yarn that Grandma found too dark to work with. It made a great big pile of mostly blue yarn.
This old acrylic seemed perfect for something I’d been planning to work on, but figured would need to wait because it was going to take a big pile of yarn. The pattern is called Tic-Tac-Toe Throw and looks like this:
So far I’ve finished just over one square of the nine needed for the board. The squares will all be done in the darker blue from the big skeins and the x’s and o’s will be the slightly brighter blue of the small skeins. A skein of country blue from my stash will do the grid lines. It won’t be quite as colorful as the pattern picture, but it won’t look dirty as fast either.
During this last year, as I was looking at my big stack of nearly unused crochet magazines I made a decision. I have restarted my Crochet World subscription, because apparently my life isn’t complete without new patterns in my mailbox on a regular basis. Since I don’t want to look back in another 5 years or so, on several dozen more nearly unused magazines, I am committing to stitch at least one pattern from each new issue.
From the October 2015 issue I have picked Turkey Napkin Rings.
I found a new value yarn at JoAnn’s and decided to give it a try. This project needs a nice sturdy yarn. I chose the colors Pumpkin, Chocolate, Scarlet, and Gold.
I got started last week, but have several projects competing for my time. So this is as far as I have gotten:
I meant to have 5 or 6 done by Thanksgiving, but likely won’t make that deadline. That’s okay, I’ll aim to finish them this month and put them aside for next year.
So, is anyone else working on something fun for the holidays?
