Recently I decided that I needed a throw rug. You see I’ve been ironing.
It’s the only thing I iron, but I usually spend an hour or so doing it once every week or two. This has only been going on since I bought the cloth napkins a few months ago. Before that I hadn’t even seen my iron in almost 4 years, since before we moved to Arizona… and back to Kansas… and then into the new house. It probably took me an hour just to figure out which box it was still packed in.
Anyway, standing on the hard-wood floor (which I love) for over an hour, ironing, makes my back hurt. And, I thought a throw rug might help. Which is perfect, because it gave me a chance to pull out this booklet I bought recently at the used bookstore:
Plus, not too long ago, my grandmother was cleaning out her yarn stash and sent me these:
Perfect yarn for making a throw rug.
Since the pattern uses four strands held together, I took one of those giant red skeins as well as some white from my own stash and turned it into this:
I will be making the heart-shaped rug on the cover. I’ve only gotten this far:
If it works like I’m hoping, I might make another of the rugs for the kitchen. We’ll see.
